In 1889 Bairei published a woodblock-printed picture book entitled Inaka no Tsuki (i.e., Moon on the 20th Night of the Month). It contained twenty-five pictures of animals engaged various types of activity, presumably on the 20th of the month. The book’s twelve pictures of birds are shown in this gallery.
